<![CDATA[Live Support Chat]]> For some time now, the most requested feature addition has been a live support app. Examples of live support services may be seen on many large corporate websites, usually in the header or footer. Looking at this type of application, it did seem like a perfect fit for the Skysa App Bar; a persistent floating placement that is very visible would be great for this. In addition to the superior placement afforded by being on the Skysa bar, we identified 3 key areas we could improve on from what is currently available from other providers.

Ease of Installation - With Skysa, just find the app in the app library and click Add. The options are easy to understand and you will be up and running in just a few minutes. The Skysa Live Support Chat does not require any operator software to be installed either; all you or any operator needs is a web browser and an Internet connection.

Great User Experience - Live Support Chat has been built from the ground up with an awareness of the operator and site owner. The interface is clean and intuitive; while still providing powerful features. The same level of attention went into the reporting; making sure you are able to quickly see what you are looking for without having to dig through data.

Low Price Point - Here at Skysa, we have always worked to cater to all website owners from small sites to large; and just like our other premium apps, Live Support Chat only requires the basic upgrade plan at just $4.95/mo.

Try it out and let us know what you think. You can add the Live Support Chat app to your Skysa bar from the Usability section of the App Library. If you don’t have a Skysa bar yet, you can create one from your account page after logging in. As with any update, if you have issues please report them in the Help > Support Request section.

<![CDATA[Native Labels Option for Translate App]]> We are excited to announce a new option for the Translate App: Native Language Labels. When this option is enabled, instead of the standard list of languages in English, each language label is written in its own native language. This will make it easier for people to identify their own language to translate to.

<![CDATA[WordPress Plugin Updates]]> Our WordPress plugin is getting more and more popular. Due to all the attention you have been giving it, we have been able to get some great feedback along the way. This has led to a lot of recent updates to the plugin. Most of the updates have been based around usability of the plugin itself and making the bar work seamlessly with popular WordPress plugins, such as BuddyPress.

We added two new settings to the plugin based on requests we have received. First, we added the option to hide the bar for logged out users. This may be useful for more private site communities. The second option we added is to customize the login page path. This is the page logged-out users are directed to if they try to use an app which requires login. This setting defaults to /wp-login.php, some site owners have wanted to change this to their own custom page or a register page.

If you have a WordPress or BuddyPress site, be sure to check out the app. And if you already have the app installed get the update, it's worth it. Also, your feedback is very welcome. Feel free to let us know what you think by rating the app and in the comments below.

<![CDATA[Big Updates for the Instant Messaging App]]> We have just released our first major update to the Instant Messaging app. Since its launch, most updates to the app have been behind-the-scenes changes, with very few visible feature or user interface adjustments; that all changes today.

New Instant Message Conversation Window

Here’s what is new:

New styling on the top menu button to make it more obvious and clickable; the color of the button matches the app menu button style of your bar. Additionally the down arrow now matches the text color correctly.

Translate is now available in instant messaging, including the ability to auto translate as new messages from that person comes in. Just like in the Chat Room app, the translate app must be installed on your bar in order for it to be available in instant messaging.

New Translate Option in Instant Message App

An Ignore option has also been added to the top menu, it allows a user to ignore anyone which tries to chat with them.

IM Options is a new options pane which is accessible from the top menu on IM conversation windows and from the Instant Message app button on your Skysa bar. The option to have a sound when new messages come in has been moved to this new options pane.

Instant Message App Options

An option to turn off page following has also been added to the IM Options dialog along with a way to manage your ignore list.

Smileys have been added to a new menu next to the submit box making it easy to insert on of the many smileys supported in the IM and Chat Room apps.

A collaborate menu has also been added next to the submit box as well, providing a shared white board, shared document editing and info on sharing images and videos.

Pop-out is now enabled for IM windows; allowing each conversation to be popped out from the site and to continue the conversation no matter if they are still on the site or not.

<![CDATA[New Members Area in Bar Management]]> The most popular Skysa apps are social in nature, requiring a member login for integration. The Skysa bar has its own basic member system which can be used for such authentication. However, being able to integrate with existing member systems instead is one of Skysa's great strengths. This all happens automatically for you; if you add Skysa to a site with a member system which is supported, you and your members will never encounter Skysa's own member system. Due to our support of member systems on many platforms (Facebook Connect, Wordpress, Spruz, Buddypress, and more), most of our users do not use the Skysa fallback member system.

Sksya Bar Management Members Tab

The Membership tab in your bar management (now called just "Members") has been your way to see the members which have signed up on your bar; if you needed and were using the Skysa fallback member system. Since this is not the case for most people, we have re-designed the Members section to show All Members, no matter how they connect and interact with the Skysa bar. You now have a robust way search for and browse members as well as see additional details about them, such as approximate location, IP address and member ID.

If you are using Skysa's member system, you can still manage those members from the Integrated Membership sub tab.

Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.

<![CDATA[New App Stats and App Management]]> We have made several updates to the bar management area, specifically in the My Apps section. Under "My Apps" you now have three tabs: Stats, Overview and Manage.

Skysa Apps Overview Tab

Overview Tab - Overview shows a list of all the apps you have installed, clicking on them will take you directly to the options for that app. On the right it provides a list of actions and reports available for specific apps you have installed. Some actions could include Managing Comments or Adding Announcements. Also on the right is a small chart showing the total app usage for the week; clicking it will take you to the Stats tab.

Skysa Apps Stats Tab

Stats Tab - Stats provides a detailed look at how apps are often apps are used and specific aspects of certain app usage as well. You can compare apps against each other or click on an app to see just that app and if applicable the specific feature usage within that app.

Skysa Apps Manage Tab

Manage Tab - Manage allows you to move around the order of your apps and also delete apps you do not use. If you want to keep an app’s settings but do not wish to keep it on your bar at this time, you can move it into the Non-Active Apps section. When in that section it will not load on your bar, but you can always re-enable it later.

Please provide your feedback on this change and let us know what other features you would like to see in the future.

<![CDATA[Who's Online]]> We have just released a new and exciting app which has been in the works for some time; the Who’s Online app.

Who's Online - Skysa App

A lot of our users have relied on the Instant Messaging app to show a count of who is currently on their site. However they have also been disappointed, when using it that way, because it is designed to only show people who are connectable. What people really want in an “who’s online” app, is a count of who has been on the site in the last few minutes; and that is exactly what we give you with the new app. In fact, we allow you to set how many minutes to go back for your online count.

When the Who’s Online app button is clicked it pops up an app window showing a map of the world with the location of each person online. Instead of showing a messy jumble of pins, they are grouped in areas with a denser concentration with a count of how many are in that area. The map is zoomable for more detail on the location. There is an option on the app to show popular content on the site. Popular content lists links to the current most popular pages on your site in and the number of visits those pages have seen in the last few minutes.
